Requirements for Non-Kenyans Wishing to Conduct a Marriage Ceremony in Kenya
Non-Kenyan parties wishing to conduct a marriage ceremony in Kenya are required to produce the following documents:
- Birth certificates.
- Valid passports.
- Decree Absolutes (if divorced).
- Death certificate (if widowed).
- Separate Statutory Declarations sworn at a Commissioner for Oaths/Notary Public’s office, stating the fact that one is single and free to marry.
- A notice of 21 days must be made.
- Parental consent in form of legal document for persons below twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Residency in the country for twenty-one days. If this is not possible, a Special License could be obtained beforehand by contacting the Registrar’s Office in Kenya.

Information for Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage
The certificate is issued to Kenya citizens wishing to have their marriages, either to Kenyans or Foreigners performed abroad.
The application MUST contain 2 SETS of requirements 1 – 5:
- Duly filled application form MA5.
- Applicants certified copy of valid Kenyan Passport (Biodata page only – certified by Notary Public).
- Applicant’s certified copy of Birth Certificate (certified by Notary Public).
- Fiancés certified passport copy (certified by Notary Public).
- Copy of Decree Absolute (if married before and divorced) or if widowed – the late spouse’s Death Certificate (certified by a notary public). These must be in English and if not, all MUST be translated and certified as a true translation by the issuing authority or representative Embassy. Sworn affidavit if the Divorce Decree or Death Certificate is more than two (2 years).
- 2(Two) Passport size pictures of each (White background).
- An application letter with clearly indicated in full – the telephone number, email address, residential address and/or postal address for any correspondences from the Mission.
Note: It shall be your responsibility to immediately notify us in writing via info@kenyaembassytelaviv.com of any changes to their residential / postal address to avoid inconveniences in delivery of services.
